ERRORS OMISSIONS SUBSTITUTIONS

Common Causes For Concern

Roof installations require multiple layers of varying materials working in conjunction to protect your assets. While providing protection, these layers also provide opportunities to hide poor decisions. Whether made by an inexperienced installer, time-constrained foreman, or superintendent increasing their bottom line, these decisions are always at your expense.

ERRORS

Undocumented deviations from contract documents, Manufacturer's installation instruction, or good roofing practices often occur for two primary reasons;

  • Lack of knowledge and/or skill

  • Saving time and money

Quality Assurance Observation preserves contractor integrity, and more importantly, your roof.

OMISSIONS

Multiple layers of materials, each with numerous steps in preparation and installation, create a myriad of opportunities for omissions;

  • Missing a preparation step in any material layer

  • Failure to install a support material at any layer

  • Omission of an assembly layer as a whole

  • Failure to complete specified non-roofing support processes

Omissions committed carelessly or purposefully are virtually impossible to identify until they become a problem. Assurance Observation provides continual oversight to shield you from the unknown.

SUBSTITUTIONS

Roof assemblies are selected based on performance versus cost. Substitutions can occur out of necessity but are routinely completed with the client none the wiser.

  • Additional products from previous jobs are often used in similar assemblies

  • Substituting a low-cost product for a quality one can increase an installer's bottom line exponentially

  • Substitutions create untested assemblies that can negate the manufacturer's warranty

Substitutions increase the installer's bottom line while decreasing the performance of your assembly. Quality Assurance Observation ensures you are getting what you paid for.
